Some advice please ML or ML Joined Jun 1, Messages 15 Reaction score 0. A complete change of direction for our choice of new used1 second car!!! Ladies and gentlemen please may I have the benefit of your advice and wisdom. I have been looking in vain for a W CDI for a reasonable price for a while now but they seem to be very rare second hand, then someone suggested I might be better off looking for an ML W instead, what is the main differences between the two?

All advice gratefully accepted. In the wake of the introduction of BlueEfficiency emissions technology, in the , and CDI models were rebadged , and The petrol, a good-value alternative to the CDI and powered by a 3.

Standard trim is rare, many buyers opting at least for SE leather, powered front seats and more upmarket trim. Sport adds larger wheels and sportier seats. The AMG bodykit was a popular option, as was air suspension, which improves the ride and handling quite dramatically. More important than luxuries, the second-generation ML was better made and finished than its predecessor, and specialists report few issues with the interior and comfort features such as the air conditioning.

Our last diesel, a CDI, regularly towed a kg trailer without fuss. Mind you, it wanted for nothing in the way of servicing. Towing, it returned 20mpg, but on its own, around 30mpg. Have owned a for about 6 months now due to increasing family Great workhorse and a comfortable distance cruiser. I found the and underpowered so went for the ML, which is fine. Main thing to look out for is the electronic plate on the 7g gearbox, these can go. Interior materials are not as good as older models imho, but that is the same with the new E Class etc.

I've a sport ml and test drove both the and The half leather is actually artico - plastic leather, easier to keep clean but not as long lasting so do not be shocked if the cars you look at have a small split in the drivers seat.

But what I will say is the ml has been the only car we have kept for any length of time and when we considered replacing it we looked at the same model ml not the new shape as we are not quite sure of its looks at the moment and ours apart from a faulty ecu has been extremely reliable. And handles itself pretty well light off roadning and in the snow.

Oh as a bonus the tyres last forever as well. I am sure you will not be disappointed regardless of which version you get and you can always get it remapped for more power. Buy the and look at something like the brabus tuning box.

I would personally get a proper ecu remap instead of a tuning box if that is an option.
