How many miles is lake calhoun

Minnesota is informally known as the land of 10, lakes. This route, located 2 miles southwest from Minneapolis downtown, is a great example, featuring three beautiful lakes within a fairly small area; Lake Calhoun, Lake Harriet and Lake of the Isles closest to downtown. The loop around each lake is 3—3. Bonus: Maintained in Winter.

There are good connectors between the lakes, and separate paths for running and cycling. You run through beautiful parks and pass by lovely homes, while enjoying spectacular views of the lakes, with the downtown skyline serving as the backdrop.

Each lake has a bit of its own character; at the bottom of the chain, Lake Harriet is more residential, Lake Calhoun is the largest, Lake Harriet is the quietest and smallest. There is also one more lake in the northwest: Cedar Lake. Too many detours for construction.

Easy to get lost. Fortunately, AllTrails map brought me back on track. Overall, good ride. The lake looked beautiful, and lots of parking, but it's pay to park. My biggest gripe with this location is it is BUSY. I went around 1 PM, and there were times where I couldn't pass on the sidewalk because there was so much traffic going in either direction.

I think I'd like to go back but maybe not on a weekend. Great views. Easy walk. Completely paved. Even with 40 degree temps it is a very busy trail with lots of walkers, runners and bikers. Separate bike and hiking paths - note that bike path is one way only around the lake clockwise. Very pretty but does get busy on the weekends.

The entire chain of lakes and grand rounds is awesome biking! Nice paved path. Fairly busy on a Saturday morning! Visit this beautiful lake any evening around P. Everybody leaves for dinner and you'll have it all to yourself!

Couldn't recognize the loop since there is no lake in Minneapolis called Bde Maka Ska. The legal name is Lake Calhoun.

The parks board has a bunch of primadonnas that tried to illegally change the name, putting signs up before even getting approval.

Beautiful during the summer months when the lake is full of activity. Nice to bike around as well. A nice spot to rollerblade or jog.

Had an threatening encounter with a presumably mentally ill person sitting on a bench yelling at me when not many people around on a morning run. Loved seeing everyone swimming and walking around the trails! Great view of the skyline and beautiful sailboats! Beautiful views but can get very busy and crowded. I have not done the whole loop at once but have done multiple sections at different times.

Love the water and city skyline. I don't know how this is rated moderate. My opinion is that it is easy. This lake has been officially renamed to its Dakota name: Bde Maka Ska. It has one of the loveliest views of lake in the fairground and the city in the back. Very very crowded. Lots of bikers, skaters, runners, walkers, and dogs. Easy access to Lake Harriet and Lake of the Isles trails. Also not far from Greenway trail. A great paved trail around all the lakes here!

Lots of people but one of my favorite spots to run when I lived nearby. Use Navigator in the AllTrails app and join the other outdoor explorers who have completed this trail.
